Welcome to the first edition of a four-part series that will highlight key findings from a community survey completed by the Municipality in August 2013. The survey, involving 1,000 households from throughout Clarington, represented a first step in seeking resident input for the PRIORITY GREEN Clarington initiative.
The survey offers insight on how “green” features factor into residents’ decision making when undertaking home improvements or buying a home. In addition, it examines what green features residents would like Clarington neighbourhoods to have and their perceptions about approaches to accommodating growth.
PRIORITY GREEN Clarington is about advancing the opportunities associated with “green” home and “green” neighbourhood design and construction practices. The outcomes of PRIORITY GREEN Clarington, including the establishment of Green Neighbourhood Development Guidelines, can contribute to addressing many of the growth challenges identified by residents. Green neighbourhoods provide an opportunity for an improved quality of life that will be felt at both the individual and community levels.
